The Wells Mission Goals
Create A Safe Space
God is our safe space and our strength. He is always our help when we are in trouble. Psalm 46:1
One of our main goals is to create a safe space for the kids to gather. Just like Christ is our safe space, we try to set that example for our kids. On Friday nights; we gather for a meal with fellowship, worship with song and a devotional together, and then just enjoy each other’s company by games or just talking. We welcome all no matter the background, school, or town they come from. When teens come to The Well, all are accepted and loved.
Building A Personal Relationship With Jesus Christ
In our ministry, we desire for our kids to continuously and intentionally draw closer to Jesus Christ. One of our goals is to create lasting and meaningful relationships with our kids but our main goal is rather the kids to build a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. By the time a kid leaves youth group, leaves home, and goes out on their own, they should have a personal relationship with God to face the journey ahead. One way our ministry can help kids is to build their relationship with Christ.
Be reminded of the story of Jesus cooking fish for the disciples on the beach after His resurrection. The disciples came to shore with a boatful of fish they caught, and the Lord was waiting for them on the beach with fish cooking on a fire. This is a great picture of the church and the Christian and kids at The Well. When they come to The Well, they get served up to us, food already cooked, but they also need to be able to fish on their own throughout the week. The Well can help with this by constant encouragement to kids in their daily walk with God.
Empowerment
“Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.”
Romans 12:6-8
Instead of forcing the kids to do things the way we want, empowerment allows the kids to use their unique God given gifts and talents on their own. Jesus gave us our vision statement in the Great Commission. We want to empower our kids like Christ empowers us through His Word that gives us our core values which guide our decisions.
Growth
As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: 1 Peter 2:2
Kids, especially Christians, are growing in their faith. Just like newborns, they need to learn to walk daily with the Lord and then they can work for the Lord out in the world. We strive to teach and mentor these kids to create a relationship with Christ, worship, nourish that relationship, and “go make disciples of all nations.” (Matthew 28:18-20) We first have to invest in our kids.
Godly Wisdom
“Get all the advice and instruction you can, so you will be wise the rest of your life. You can make many plans, but the LORD’s purpose will prevail.”
-Proverbs 19: 20-21
God sends people into our lives for many reasons, in response to what we need. No relationship happens in the Kingdom of God without reason including the kids that come to The Well on Friday nights. We are here to offer that Godly wisdom from our walk with Christ to help them in theirs. Whether they are facing school matters or a spiritual battle, we are here to actively listen to them and provide wisdom that only God can provide through His word.
